Deep Deceit Hits Top 10 in Mystery/Suspense During Launch Week
When Celeste Parker's daughter Tamara goes missing in Dubai the all-out search and rescue mission she anticipates never materializes. She is put off by the police as 18-year-old Tamara is technically an adult, and no foul play is apparent. Celeste faces the gut-wrenching fear every mother dreads... the possibility of losing a child. And, with the unfamiliar laws of the Middle East, the stress level skyrockets. The longer Tamara is missing the more Celeste's feelings of dread escalate. Her maternal instinct tells her something is terribly wrong. New to the city and with her husband away working in Saudi Arabia, she turns to her new friend and fellow expat, Susan Morris, for help. This suspenseful mystery/thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat as the duo set off on a hunt, which takes them down a dark alley of deep deceit. From exotic nightclubs and high-class call girls to mysterious Saudi palaces hidden behind ominous walls, they follow each lead while uncovering the unthinkable. The suspense builds as they come closer to finding Tamara and the secrets Celeste and Susan uncover threaten not only her daughter's life but everyone in their families' as well.

If you enjoy reading about international intrigue and cultural clashes, you'll love Deep Deceit. If you like what you read, there's more to come in Deep Freeze, the next installment in the Susan Morris Expat Mystery series.

I feel like I have been to Dubai... and personally I'm not going back! Not after reading the delectable twists and turns these two women go through working their way into and out of problems that would have any mother of any culture beside herself and bring the lioness out along the way.

No, in my real life haven't been to Dubai, but the scenes are so well done I felt the heat of the sun and the heat of the culture as both descend upon the heads of a mother in distress and her rather amazing friend who works to help her out.

Underlying the story line, taking place in a foreign and treacherous land, is the story of friendship and support that we all wish for in our lives no matter where we live.

In Deep Deceit you get a triple deck treat.

1. An ongoing string of insights into a truly exotic land - clearly the author has either lived there herself or spent years on research getting it exactly right. Very Impressive!
2. A story line with mystery within mystery and surprises all along the way. Masterly Done!
3. Insights into the human condition that grab you up while transcending culture, history and circumstances. Reason alone to read this book.

There is much more than meets the eye and first impressions with this book. Expect the unexpected as the characters develop - and enjoy what you find along the way.

Deep Deceit edition by Anne Louise O'Connell Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

this book exhibits a deep knowledge of customs and culture in dubai and saudi arabia.
the bad guy gets badder and badder until the surprise ending.
i read it continuously for a few days, as did my wife.
it consumed my interest, like a spy novel.
highly recommended.
Excellent story wrapped in lots of insights into a way of life that is hidden from view ! I think anyone would enjoy the story but I think the insights into life in Dubai and Saudi Arabia and the behind the scenes of the Saudi royal family are what make this book so compelling and interesting ! Thank you Anne for a really good read, can't wait for your next effort.
Great story and very well written.
I did enjoyed this, the author nicely showed a person with depression overcoming her personal demons for the love of her daughter. There was even some compassion for the bad guy. Interesting setting!
Hard to put down, suspenseful and with an exotic flavour - that's Deep Deceit in a nutshell! The author tackled issues of dependency and mental health in a very skillful manner which made both the characters and tension strong and real; I particularly enjoyed the feeling of being in the main character's gut, so to speak, sensing that something was off and going through discoveries with her only as the plot unfolded. Whether you are familiar with the Middle East and expat kind of life or just looking for an enticing escape from your everyday routine, Deep Deceit is the kind of read that delivers on multiple frontiers.
I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, who posted on Facebook that she had read it.

Having spent many years living in the Middle East, I am often disappointed with books set in that venue, since they don't get the lifestyle at all. This book was different. It had a good tale and a wonderful grasp of the place.

Even if you've never been to Dubai, this will keep you turning the pages.
Right off the bat, the title and the photo had me intrigued. The opening lines portrayed a friendship developing through hardship that would grow, permeate and infuse the arc of the story. This is a book about love, betrayal, loyalty, and friendship written beneath the backdrop of colorful, exotic, androcentric Dubai. For anyone who's ever traveled as an ex-patriot, you'll empathize with the character's needs to find their own "tribal members" and learn the lay of the land quickly. For any of us who are parents, and more fear instilling, parents in a foreign land, this roller coaster ride of emotions will keep you reading through to the satisfying end. While the story itself was a mystery thriller, the author painted life in Dubai with such vivid and evocative language, I felt myself immersed in the region. The descriptions of the wedding and the night club scene were particularly striking.
I look forward to more from this author and to learn more about the character Susan, a natural-born caregiver and sleuth. Well done!
